Best time to visit Las Vegas, including seasons, major events, and more. Use this guide to plan your own Vegas trip.
Las Vegas is one of the top destinations in the United States, drawing in millions of travelers each year.
Think of world-famous entertainment, lively nightlife, incredible landmarks, and diverse dining options.
And, of course, the chance to try your luck at the casinos.
By far, this is one of the best places to celebrate the New Year, too.
But, as you will see, there are several periods to consider.
So, let’s plan your trip.
Best Time to Visit Vegas
The best time to visit Las Vegas is during the milder seasons of spring and fall, with temperatures ranging from the mid-70s to mid-80s Fahrenheit (around 24-30°C).
So, these mild temperatures make hiking, exploring nature, and enjoying outdoor attractions more comfortable during these seasons.
Sadly, Las Vegas experiences dustier conditions during the summer months, particularly in June.
Windy days can contribute to dust in the air, affecting visibility and air quality.
Meanwhile, winter in Las Vegas generally sees clean air, with cooler temperatures and reduced dust compared to the hotter months. It can be a good time for outdoor activities.
On the other hand, Las Vegas is fun any time of the year since it depends on you.
For example, visiting Las Vegas during events can make your experience lively with a fun atmosphere, entertainment options, and special activities.
So, maybe you want to check event schedules for a memorable trip.
Vegas in the Seasons
Even though I gave you a pretty good understanding of the weather previously, I want to go into the seasons here.
So, choose the best time to visit Las Vegas based on what strikes a chord with you.
First of all, Las Vegas is generally great in spring. You will have mild temperatures, ranging from the mid-70s to mid-80s Fahrenheit (around 24-30°C).
The desert landscape blooms with wildflowers, and this creates a picturesque backdrop for your photos.
Comfortable evenings make outdoor activities enjoyable, while the city’s lively atmosphere and attractions can be explored without the intense heat of summer.
I would say this is a great time to visit for couples.
On the other hand, summer in Las Vegas is characterized by scorching heat, with daytime temperatures often exceeding 100°F (38°C).
The city sizzles under intense sunshine, creating ideal conditions for pool parties and lively nightlife.
Because the prices are cheaper, visit during this season if you want budget options.
Meanwhile, fall in Las Vegas brings pleasant weather, with daytime temperatures ranging from the mid-70s to mid-80s Fahrenheit (around 24-30°C).
The city enjoys milder conditions, making it an ideal time for outdoor exploration.
Also, the desert landscape retains some greenery, and the evenings are comfortable.
Finally, winter drags in cooler temperatures from the desert, with daytime highs ranging from the mid-50s to mid-60s Fahrenheit (around 13-20°C).
While the days are generally mild, nights can get super chilly, which means you should bring winter clothing.
So, yeah, that is about it for the seasons.
Major Vegas Events
Las Vegas is a fun city to bring events, and that truly is why the city hosts a variety of major events throughout the year.
As a result, I will share with you some major events, hoping something will speak to you and you will find your own best time to visit Las Vegas.
In January, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) happens. This event draws tech enthusiasts.
You will get to know what is hot and not before everybody does.
February sees the incredible NBA All-Star Weekend. If you love this sport, this is a great time to visit.
Of course, March welcomes the NASCAR weekend.
The Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) electrifies May with a massive music festival.
Meanwhile, summer brings the World Series of Poker in June and the UFC International Fight Week in July.
September marks the iHeartRadio Music Festival.
Also, October hosts the Life is Beautiful festival.
November features the National Finals Rodeo.
Finally, December welcomes extravagant New Year’s Eve celebrations, including the famous Strip fireworks. Vegas pulsates with entertainment year-round.
Any of those periods can be your special time to visit!
When to Avoid Vegas
Honestly, this is a fun city you can visit whenever you want. That said, though, I would encourage you to do it during the peak of summer.
Particularly, July and August are when temperatures soar well above 100°F (38°C). It makes you feel like you’re in a hot oven!
Meanwhile, hotel rates tend to be higher during major events and conventions. Checking the event calendar to avoid those times might be beneficial.
Unless, of course, you’re specifically attending.
Finally, if you prefer a quieter experience, weekends and holidays tend to be busier, so mid-week visits could offer a more relaxed atmosphere.
Keep in mind, though, personal preferences and any specific events or conditions you may want to avoid.
Final Thoughts
This destination attracts visitors a lot, but the best time to visit Las Vegas can totally be personal, too.
With a ton of entertainment, nightlife, landmarks, and so much more, Vegas is fun any time of the year!
In this guide, though, I tried to focus on the seasons, in case you happen to be a spring person!
Plus, I discussed some cool events, including NASCAR.
So, yeah, I think this guide has given you a lot to consider.
Enjoy Vegas!
